What happened?

The Valencia Basket has made official the departure of Sergio De Larrea, who is heading to the Dallas Mavericks after both parties agreed to pay the buyout clause included in his contract to join the NBA.

Sergio De Larrea's story with Valencia Basket began in the summer of 2021, when he left Valladolid to join L'Alqueria del Basket at just 15 years old.

His debut with the first team came on January 11, 2023, when he played his first minutes in a win against Anadolu Efes at the Fonteta, matching up with the star of the reigning champion, Vasilije Micic, and wearing the number 55 jersey, which he will also wear for the Mavericks since the number 5 he used as a taronja is occupied.

The sixth goodbye of a summer of restructuring

The departure of the Valladolid-born point guard adds to a deep restructuring of the Liga Endesa champion squad. Previously, Darius Thompson, Braxton Key, Isaac Nogués, and Jaime Pradilla had already left the taronja discipline, as well as coach Pedro Martínez, in a change of cycle that will force the club to rebuild a large part of its project for the debut at the Roig Arena.
